FAQ's
- I currently pay my security company to monitor my CCTV so that I can get police response, will the police respond to my CCTV system if I’m self-monitoring?
- Police response will vary from area to area but generally the police will respond if you can see evidence of an intrusion at your premises.
- Also if you have a monitored alarm and there is a confirmed activation, the police will respond on the basis of that activation, you don’t need a compliant CCTV system as well.
- If I have a burglary and the system captures the intruders will the police be able to use my footage as evidence?
- The police need what is a called ‘hard copy’ which can be USB device or CD, they normally need two copies one for the master file and one to put in the evidence bag for the CPS. u-View will allow you to copy footage easily onto USB devices which can then be put onto a PC to easily burn CDs if required for police use. Generally the police are migrating towards digital CCTV footage as it tends to be of higher quality than its equivalent analogue recording which is often recorded by almost obsolete recorders and onto tapes that may have been used many, many times.
- What if I change my mind and decide I no longer want u-View after I’ve placed my order?
- As with any purchase your make remotely, you legally have a 14 day cooling off period in which you can have a full refund should you change your mind. With BT’s u-View we give you up to 30 days for a full refund. You can cancel with a phone call or email any time up to installation, or after installation (up to 30 days after purchase). You will need to confirm your cancellation by email and return the unit to an address provided in full working condition. After the unit has been received and tested (normally within 48 hours of receipt) your credit/debit card will be refunded in full.
- How secure are my cameras over the Internet?
- All web access to your cameras is protected by your unique username and password which is set up with your system and can be changed by you at anytime by going into the administration function of your system.
- Why does BT only guarantee my installation for 30 days?
- BT will install the u-View into your CCTV system, any problems that are related to the equipment itself or the installation will most likely come to light within 30 days, although the equipment itself is covered by a 3 year warranty.
- Why do I have to go back to the manufacturer rather than BT if anything goes wrong with my u-View equipment after 30 days is up?
- All our equipment is thoroughly tested and should meet the highest standards, however, in the event that you should experience problems during the warranty period (3 years) we want you to receive replacement or repaired kit as quickly as possible. By dealing directly with the manufacturer (who is acting as an agent on BT’s behalf) we can cut-out an unnecessary step and resolve your issue as quickly as possible.
- What is included in my installation?
- The BT engineer will install your u-View system, connecting it to your existing CCTV cameras, demonstrating the video motion detection and scheduling functions by setting up one of your cameras and showing you how you can access your live and recorded CCTV remotely.
